U-M Health Timekeepers & Approvers Weekly Update: July 18, 2024

Effective Dates for Hires, Rehires, Return from Leaves Must Be an Actual Workday

The effective date on Job Data in M-Pathways of an employee hire, rehire, and return from leave of absence should be the employee’s first day of work.

As an example, if a new hire is expected to begin work on Monday, July 1, then that should be the effective date of the hire on Job Data.

If an employee is unable to begin work on the effective date of their hire, rehire or return from LOA date, then a PAR must be submitted to change the start/effective date to the date the employee will actually come into work. Recently, we have observed departments reporting no pay when an employee’s workday has changed or even PTO which is not allowed.

Is Your Timekeeper Contact Information Correct?

To find out please visit the Timekeeper/HR Contact Tool, select the drop-down menu and type each of the 6-digit department ID numbers you are responsible for. There should be a timekeeper and backup timekeeper name listed as well as their unique-name and phone contact number.

The more accurate we can keep this list the more efficient it is for all of us to find who we need to reach out to for questions. You can use the tool to confirm who the assigned pay analyst and HR Business Partner is for each department id.
